No, we're not even close to the end of times. The destruction, the wars and disasters in nature has been happening for a very long time and we're still here. People has been talking about how ';this time is the worst time ever and the world has to be close to the end'; for thousands of years now. Thousands. And we're still here.
There are so many things in this world that is better than ever. Great things that help not only people but also all living things including the nature. Medical treatments that ends suffering, people helping each other globally, technical progress that helps to predict or even prevent disasters ... the list goes on. The majority of the world is good and mostly good things happen. Not that you'd know it from following the news. The news almost always focus on the bad things.
